CareerSource Florida hosts Apprenticeship Works Summit

PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) – A packed ballroom greeted job seekers and employers Thursday morning at the Bradenton Area Convention Center in Palmetto, as CareerSource Florida and its Suncoast, Tampa Bay, Polk, Pasco and Hernando branches hosted the “Apprenticeship Works” event from 9–11 a.m.

The event comes as more employers ask about apprenticeship programs while labor pools of qualified candidates continue to tighten. Organizers say registered apprenticeships can help build stronger local pipelines—connecting businesses with workers while giving employees a path to grow their skills and advance.

“A lot of the times I think people think apprenticeship is just, well, I’ve got to hire somebody new and train them,” said Anthony Gagliano, VP and COO of CareerSource Suncoast. “A lot of the times it’s thinking about, okay, how do I take that person who’s been a good employee for us and take their skills to the next level.”…
