BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A new wave of scam text messages impersonating Idaho courts is targeting Ada County residents, prompting hundreds of people to call the Ada County Clerk’s Office to verify whether the messages are legitimate.
The Ada County Clerk’s Office said it has been made aware of a text message scam impersonating Idaho District Court staff and claiming recipients have a fake traffic violation summons. The messages often demand that the recipient appear in court or pay a fine to avoid a penalty.
