LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A dispute over tip money at a Las Vegas restaurant has led a former employee to accuse the owners of withholding part of a tip pool meant for back-of-house staff, allegations the owners deny.
Mariah Hills, who until recently worked at Stuff My Turkey, said she began asking cooks whether they were receiving bonuses or extra money on their checks. “I did start asking all the cooks in the back of the house if they get bonuses or if they have seen extra money on their checks, and they have all told me ‘no,’” Hills said.
Stuff My Turkey uses a tipping pool for credit card tips, meaning 25% of tips are spread among multiple employees on a customer’s check rather than going only to the person who served the food. Servers collect all of their tips if customers pay in cash…
