SARATOGA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Capital Region family is finally bringing a World War II hero home, more than 80 years after his death. NEWS10’s Amber Fisher spoke with relatives of Second Lieutenant Joseph “Roy” Burke, who shared the story of his life and the long journey to lay him to rest.
“He’s actually laid to rest. He was buried in mass graves, in unmarked graves, and now he’s in a marked grave with honor,” said John Burke, Joseph Burke’s nephew.
