August trial scheduled for Alabama man charged in New Year’s Eve chase, shooting on I-380

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (IOWA’S NEWS NOW) — A trial date is set for the Alabama man accused of shooting at three law enforcement officers in Linn County following a New Year’s Eve chase on I-380.

Samuel Reese has been held on $2 million bond since being released from the hospital in January. He’s now scheduled for trial on August 17.

Reese is accused of stealing a vehicle from an employee at the Marines Recruitment Center in Cedar Falls the morning of December 31, then fleeing when a deputy tried to pull him over in Linn County later that morning. Reese is charged with three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer after shooting at law enforcement near the Tower Terrace Road exit, where Reese crashed after a chase…
