El Pasoan, horse racing legend Jerry Bailey set to call Kentucky Derby on NBC

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby will once again air on NBC with a familiar voice calling the action from Churchill Downs.

Jerry Bailey, who grew up in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Coronado High School, returns to the broadcast booth for Saturday’s “Run for the Roses.” He joined NBC in 2012 as a horse racing analyst, serving as a key voice for their coverage of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Breeders’ Cup.

Bailey spent a lot of his childhood around Sunland Park Racetrack. His late father owned racehorses, and it was there that his love for the sport blossomed, despite it not being his first choice…
