RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Washoe County Human Services Agency is launching a monthlong schedule of events for Older Americans Month, offering activities including ice cream socials, dance lessons and classes to encourage seniors to socialize and stay active.
The events began Friday with an annual information fair at the Washoe County Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair featured more than 70 vendors connecting seniors to programs and services in the community. Attendees learned about retirement planning, insurance, healthcare and legal aid.
“We have our information fair going on for the beginning of Older Americans Month, which starts today,” said Cara Paoli, division director with Washoe County Human Services Agency. “We have all sorts of people here, different businesses and vendors that are here for seniors and want to give them information and resources. So it’s a great event, a great kickoff for Older Americans Month, which is Champion Your Health.”…
