Cuyahoga County, MetroHealth sued over double-amputee’s restraint death

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The family of a woman who died after Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies and MetroHealth police pinned her down and handcuffed her during a medical and mental health crisis sued the county and hospital system on Friday.

Tasha Grant’s death was ruled a homicide and a criminal investigation is ongoing. She cried out that she couldn’t breathe 23 times before dying in her hospital bed at MetroHealth.

Attorneys Stanley Jackson and Robert Gresham wrote in the lawsuit that Grant’s death was “unnecessary, preventable, and all too foreseeable.”…
