HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two people who rented a boat Friday afternoon at High Point City Lake Park have not been located after failing to return it before sunset, prompting a coordinated search by park rangers and emergency crews.
The boat was rented around 3 p.m., but did not return to the marina as expected. Park rangers were unable to locate it before nightfall. Drones were later deployed and found the vessel partially ashore within the lake area, with no one on board. Rental items were still inside the boat.
High Point Fire Department was alerted at approximately 9:30 p.m. and initiated a land search of the surrounding area. Officials have attempted to contact the two renters by phone, but calls have gone to voicemail…
