THP chase at 148 mph on Interstate 24 ends with spike strip stop in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Tennessee Highway Patrol chase on Interstate 24 ended in Clarksville with a spike strip stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

At about 1:30 a.m., THP was trying to stop a grey Dodge Charger on Interstate 24 westbound near mile marker 13 for driving 92 mph, according to dispatch traffic reported by Clarksville Now news partner Dash 10 Media.

Speeds were reportedly as high as 148 mph on the interstate. The vehicle took Exit 11 and drove through a red light, turning left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway then Madison Street, with speeds up to 117 mph on city streets. Approaching Old Farmers Road, the vehicle crashed, but continued despite having damage to the rear bumper. It continued onto Ashland City Road, Riverside Drive, Kraft Street, College Street, North Second Street, and then up Providence Boulevard.
