Driver arrested for DUI after fleeing, crashing in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A 23-year-old was arrested for driving under the influence and fleeing officers with the West Valley Police Department.

According to court documents, an officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Joe Hernandez. He allegedly “failed to stop despite the emergency lights being activated on officer’s clearly marked “POLICE” vehicle,” the documents read.

While fleeing officers, he then “crashed his vehicle into another vehicle and fled on foot.”
