SINTON — Sinton freshman Mason Swanson knew he had to execute in the situation he stepped into on Saturday against Columbia in the second game of a Class 4A Division II bi-district series.
Swanson, hitting fifth in the Pirates order, stepped to the plate in an odd situation during the bottom of the seventh inning.
Roughnecks coach Ryan Picart decided to intentionally walk the two hitters in front of Swanson in the Pirates order — Keldon Kemp and Augie Castillo — to load the bases and the game tied.
