Argentina’s Cafe, a South American coffee shop, is now open in Salt Lake City, serving hearty empanadas.
The intrigue: While Argentine empanadas are traditionally baked, you can choose to have yours baked or fried.
- The empanadas are generously sized and priced between $6 and $6.50 each. Order at least two if you’re looking for a quick, filling meal.
What I tried: I sampled the pork and chicken ones, as well as a cup of drip coffee.
- The chicken, stuffed with onions and peppers in a tomato-based sauce, was my favorite. I paired it with a chipotle-mayo dip.
- I tried both baked and fried versions and slightly preferred the fried.
- You can choose from eight empanadas, from spicy chorizo to mushrooms and brie.
The vibe: The Central City cafe, at 655 E. 400 South, features comfortable seating ideal for remote work, so you can settle in and enjoy some empanadas.
