Iowa fertility doctors say federal bill will help lower cost of IVF

URBANDALE, Iowa — Fertility doctors in Urbandale are sharing their support for federal legislation that could help lower the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments and expand access.

“You’re looking at close to $20,000 and it can be even more expensive depending of different treatments that patients have to undergo,” said Dr. Abigail Mancuso, a fertility doctor at the University of Iowa Health Center for Reproductive Care.

The clinic opened in Urbandale around six years ago to expand patient access to reproductive care, like IVF. Patients in the metro now have a local facility for standard appointments, without having to drive to Iowa City…
