DNA Identification Confirms Remains in 2022 Birmingham Double Missing Persons Case

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of human remains discovered in late 2025 as those of a man reported missing in 2022.

This marks a significant development in a case involving two individuals who disappeared under related circumstances.

According to the coroner’s office, the remains were identified as 51-year-old Audrey Bernard Pettaway of Birmingham. Pettway was identified through DNA analysis.
