Bell County leaders urge pause on transmission line project, push to move hearings

BELL COUNTY, Texas — Bell County leaders are calling for a major change in how the public can weigh in on a controversial high-voltage transmission line project—asking state regulators to move an upcoming hearing from Austin to Bell County.

The request comes after the Bell County Commissioners Court passed a resolution urging the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to relocate the “hearing on the merits” for the Big Hill transmission line project. That hearing, currently scheduled for the week of June 12 in Austin, is considered a critical step before the project can move forward.
