This new Dierbergs built its kosher aisle by asking Jewish St. Louis what it needed

Dierbergs family members and representatives of University City gathered on Tuesday, May 5 to commemorate the opening of Dierbergs Market’s 28th store. The 75,000 square foot supermarket welcomed dignitaries and customers to the 8680 Olive Blvd. location.

Built with the community in mind

The store is noteworthy for its commitment to serving the Jewish community. It offers a large selection of kosher foods, spread out through the store in clearly marked sections. Terry Crow, mayor of University City, said he was especially impressed by the store’s interest in serving the local clientele.

“It shows the thoughtfulness of the Dierberg family to reach out to our community to determine what the needs are,” Crow said. “And they really did a phenomenal, incredible job. The kosher food section is unbelievable, so kudos to them for thinking about our community.”

Listening before opening

Just before a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the store, Greg Dierberg, president and CEO, said the inclusion of a robust kosher food section was intentional.

“The team has poured over every detail, carefully selecting the right products to make sure they meet our quality, high quality standards,” Dierberg said. “I believe we’ve curated the most comprehensive selection of kosher foods anywhere in the region.”…
