SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Families packed into the Canyons School District meeting Tuesday night expecting a final decision on proposed school consolidations, but instead, the board voted to table the plans, leaving several elementary schools in limbo.
The proposals would have merged Park Lane Elementary with Willow Canyon Elementary, and Granite Elementary with Quail Hollow Elementary. District leaders say the consolidation discussion stems from ongoing challenges including declining enrollment, lower birth rates, rising housing costs, and aging school facilities.
Still, no final direction has been set.
