AUSTIN, Texas — The cost of about everything is expected to go up as the trucking industry contends with rapidly rising gas prices nationwide.
That pain goes beyond the pump. Those costs tend to be passed onto the consumer, including customers at Zen Japanese Food Fast in North Austin. General manager Nathan Perkins and his team continue to serve up delicious meals as they keep an eye on the invoices of food distributors that bring all the ingredients and supplies needed.
“We use everything from Performance Food Group to Cisco, local companies,” Perkins said. “I’ve been here for about 15 years, and this is about the most I’ve seen the prices go up as far as fuel costs.”…
