SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Salt Lake City Councilwoman Eva Lopez Chavez’s role in the council was temporarily diminished as an investigation into sexual harassment allegations got underway.
On Tuesday evening, the Salt Lake City Council voted 5-0 with two abstentions to suspend Lopez Chavez’s duties, including her ability to conduct formal meetings and her leadership role in the Community Reinvestment Agency.
Lopez Chavez and Councilwoman Victoria Petro abstained from voting.

The vote comes after Petro and three others brought forth allegations of unwanted advances by Lopez Chavez. All four claimed Lopez Chavez restrained them in “an aggressive manner” and made unwanted sexual advances…
