Austin brewery debuts beer garden for hosting and growing ingredients

One Hill Country beer destination is taking the term “beer garden” very seriously as it unveils its new community space, where visitors can enjoy a beer among growing ingredients and plants that support pollinators. Beerburg Events, at 13476 Fitzhugh Rd. on the southwest edge of Austin, unveils its new beer garden on May 28.

Beerburg started as a brewery that was focused on wild ingredients that staff sometimes foraged themselves. The brewery closed in January of 2024 and instead became an event venue. This allowed siblings Ross, Trevor, and Elizabeth Nearburg to continue operating the space and brewing at a more manageable capacity. Beerburg has been operating on a somewhat private scale since, and the opening will dedicate a piece of the property that the public can visit more consistently.

“We love this region, and we feel a responsibility to care for it,” said Elizabeth Nearburg. “This space is an invitation. We want people to experience the Hill Country in a tangible way, to see what grows here, taste how it shows up in our beers and feel connected to something larger than a single visit.”…
