IOWA CITY, Iowa — An addition to Big Grove’s brewing lineup has raised more than $35,000 to help support the causes its buyers are passionate about.
Big Grove’s Neighborhood Beer is the brewery’s first lager, launched last year. The Neighborhood name isn’t just for show. Big Grove launched a micro-grant program designed to help fund community projects across Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. $1 from every sale of a case of Neighborhood Beer goes towards funding those grants.
Now, one year after the beer launched, Big Grove officials announced that they’ve given out more than $36,000 through those micro-grants. 68 awards were given in total. Some of the projects include a Cinco de Mayo celebration in Iowa City, environmental restoration work at Bever Park in Cedar Rapids and a Halloween party that raises money for a food pantry in Des Moines…
