Martin Short made his first public appearance since the tragic loss of his daughter, Katherine, earlier this year.
The celebrated actor attended the red carpet event for the premiere of his upcoming Netflix documentary, “Marty, Life is Short,” held Wednesday at The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Short was joined by his sons, Henry and Oliver, as they posed together for the occasion, all dressed in suit jackets paired with white undershirts.
Set to debut on Netflix on May 12, the documentary offers an intimate look at Short’s life and career. According to the film’s synopsis, it features classic clips, new interviews, and previously unseen home movies, capturing the joy and spirit that have defined his journey.
The event comes amid a difficult time for Short and his family. In February, Katherine Short was found deceased at her home in Los Angeles.
Police responded to a call reporting a possible suicide on February 23 and subsequently launched an investigation. The Los Angeles Fire Department also confirmed responding to a shooting report at the residence, where they discovered Katherine’s body.
A representative for Martin Short released a statement expressing the family’s grief: “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine was one of three children Martin shared with his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who passed away in 2010 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. The couple had been married for 30 years.
