Blood drive held for injured Ridgeland police officer

RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – The Ridgeland community came together on Wednesday in support of one of its own after a police officer was severely injured while on duty along the Natchez Trace.

Residents gathered at the Ridgeland Police Department for a blood drive benefiting Corporal Ryan Stacey as he continues recovering from his injuries. Volunteers lined up throughout the day to donate blood and show support for the officer, his family and the department.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said the department is grateful for the overwhelming support and is asking the community to continue praying for Stacey during this difficult time.

“As police officers, we all are called to this. This is a calling for us and we all have servant hearts and this is part of serving our community,” Myers said. “Of course, we are here to help Ryan as well. We are asking for your prayers. If you can’t donate any money, you can donate blood.”…
