Woman shot by officers after chaotic carjacking, chase in Anne Arundel County

SEVERN, Md. — Police in Anne Arundel County opened fire on a driver who they say hit another officer with her car during a pursuit Thursday night. The driver was wounded and is in the hospital.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers were called for a reported carjacking near North Crain Highway around 9 p.m. Responding officers found the suspected stolen car a short time later in the area of the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive. While attempting to pull the car over, the woman took off and struck an officer.

Following the collision, police say officers opened fire on the car and the suspect behind the wheel was shot in the shoulder. The driver crashed nearby, was taken into custody and hospitalized for treatment of her injuries…
