Alcoa Man Apprehended After Five Points Shooting

An early-morning burst of gunfire in East Knoxville’s Five Points neighborhood injured one man and wounded another, after police say a 27-year-old Alcoa man was apprehended on I-40 East and detained for questioning.

Officers discovered a 30-year-old Knoxville man outside an apartment in the 400 block of Taylor Homes Road shortly after 3 a.m. with at least one gunshot wound to his lower body, according to the Knoxville Police Department. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where his injuries were classified as non-life-threatening. Police say the suspect’s vehicle was later stopped on I-40 East by Sevier County deputies and Sevierville cops, and the driver was taken to the Public Safety Complex to be questioned.

According to KPD, investigators swiftly identified Alcoa resident Isaiah Hill, 27, as a suspect. Hill was taken to the Public Safety Complex and interviewed by Homicide Unit investigators as they investigate what led to the incident…
