IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – For the second time, a ransomware group has claimed to breach a learning system used by the University of Iowa, Iowa State and schools around the world, including local school districts like Iowa City, Des Moines and Marshalltown.
The group Shiny Hunters shut down access as students are taking final exams and completing assignments. The demand requires negotiations before May 12, or “everything is leaked.”
The breach may have exposed personal information about students, teachers and staff across the country.
