After being prevented from using the word “Black” to promote a campus event for Black History Month by the University of North Texas administration, some students on campus said they feel persistently stifled by the state’s efforts to dismantle diversity programs.
“There is definitely, definitely a censorship – like immediately,” said Ariel Easter, a sophomore student in the UNT College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences.
She said in her classes, all the professors seem “on their toes” avoiding topics that can fall under diversity, equity and inclusion because they are afraid of being the next person fired…
