Bakersfield Planning Commission approves alcohol sale for Regal Edwards at The Marketplace

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Edwards movie theater in The Marketplace on Ming Avenue got the city’s approval Thursday to start selling alcohol to moviegoers.

The Bakersfield Planning Commission unanimously approved the conditional use permit during its regular meeting May 7, with two of the seven commissioners absent.

Some commissioners expressed concern about the area reportedly having the highest reports of loitering and incidents involving minors in the city, as well as losing family-friendly locations that don’t allow alcohol.
