IOWA CITY, Iowa — A group of veterans has launched a fundraising campaign to preserve an F-86 Sabre jet that has stood outside the Iowa City Municipal Airport since 1972.
The F-86 Sabre was at risk of removal last month after the Airport Commission considered hauling it away because of rising maintenance and repair costs.
