Elon Musk visited Intel’s chip factory in Hillsboro this week, the billionaire said Friday, to meet with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan two weeks after Musk announced a vague partnership with the chipmaker.
Last month, Musk said he would use Intel’s forthcoming 14A manufacturing process in his “Terafab” — an enormous semiconductor factory he plans to build for Tesla, SpaceX and xAI, his artificial intelligence business. Musk didn’t provide any details of the arrangement, though, and he frequently overstates his business plans.
But this week’s visit suggests Musk is serious. He posted a photo of himself and Tan — apparently holding the head of a Tesla Optimus humanoid — and wrote, “It was an honor to be shown the awesome @Intel fab in Oregon this week.”…
