Firefighters Get Extra Practice Ahead of Firefighter Challenge

The Firefighter Challenge is returning to Erie this fall, bringing firefighters from around the world together to test their endurance and stamina.

Ahead of the competition, firefighters from Erie, Millcreek, Union City, and Jamestown took part in a training session focused on the skills and techniques needed for the demanding event on Saturday morning.

Competitors must complete a series of physically intense challenges in just two minutes, including climbing several flights of stairs while carrying equipment, hoisting weighted hoses, carrying body dummies, and using a machine that replicates breaking the roof of a building.
