Potentially major staffing changes could be on the table for the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and San Diego Fire-Rescue if Mayor Todd Gloria’s proposed budget is approved. Dozens of positions would be eliminated or frozen across both departments.
Under the proposed budget, SDPD would cut positions for 11 lieutenants, 13 sergeant, 4 front counter officers, and 10 civilian positions. It would also add 18 new parking enforcement positions, a new mentorship program, and a e-ticket system.
