The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and Lazy Mayzie are some of the magical Dr. Seuss characters who the audience will meet in Musical Theatre Workshops production of “Seussical Jr.” May 15-17.
“One of the most fun parts for kids is the fantastical characters. Most of them are characters these children know from books they grew up with and even their parents grew up with,” said Devon McSherry, who directs about 100 children between the ages of 5 and 14 in two separate show casts.
In “Seussical Jr.,” the Cat in the Hat leads the audience from the Jungle of Nool into the tiny world of the Whos, where Horton the Elephant discovers a speck of dust containing an entire community and he’s determined to protect them even though no one can see them.
