Scattered storms today with a few strong to severe possible across South Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — South Florida will see an active afternoon of weather, with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing, especially along the east coast and interior areas.

Storms are expected to form later today as sea breezes—winds moving inland from the coast—interact with a warm and humid air mass. The greatest coverage will be from the Treasure Coast southward, though activity will be more widespread at times. Some storms could become strong, bringing frequent lightning, gusty winds, small hail, and heavy downpours. There is also a low chance of an isolated tornado where storm boundaries collide.

Temperatures will remain hot, with highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s. Combined with humidity, it will feel even warmer, with heat index values reaching the upper 90s to near 105 degrees in some areas…..
