AUSTIN (KXAN) — Happy Mother’s Day.
The sky was clear at sunrise with most morning lows ranging from the mid 60s to a couple at 70°. Austin’s low were 68° at Camp Mabry (+3°) and 65° at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Today will be quiet under a bright sky and very warm temperatures with most highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Storms tonight
The quiet of this day will be interrupted by an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms starting at around 7 to 9 p.m. in San Saba and Lampasas Cos with the arrival of a cold front. Storms will continue to march south.
Some of the storms could be severe. An area from Gillespie and much of Blanco Cos. northeast to much of Travis (including Austin), Williamson and Milam Cos. is in an Enhanced Risk area (level 3 of 5) for severe weather. The rest of the region will be in a Slight Risk area (level 2 of 5) for storms to reach severe criteria.
Damaging winds look to be the biggest severe threat during a time from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Gusts could reach as high as 60 to 75 mph as the storms drop to the south.
Rain totals will average around .25″ to 1.00″ but a few locations could measure more than an inch in isolated areas.

Tomorrow will be partly cloudy and a little cooler with many highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The rest of the week will be bright and warm. The next low chance of rain come Friday night to Saturday…
