MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Belmont, North Carolina, man lost his life Sunday morning after being pulled from the water near Cottrell Key. Benjamin Lee Millspaw, 56, was found unconscious at approximately 11:59 a.m. while on an excursion with a commercial snorkeling company.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the emergency call and assisted in the recovery. Millspaw was rushed to the Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island, where he was later pronounced dead.
