Martin Luther King native with 29 years experience named Shreveport Police deputy chief

A Martin Luther King neighborhood product with deep experience in the Shreveport Police Department has been named the new deputy chief.

Michael Tyler was introduced Monday during the city council meeting. He is a 1990 Northwood High School graduate and also attended Green Oaks.

“I have spoken to a lot of officers up and down the ranks, and not one has said anything other than ‘well done,’ ‘it’s about time,’ or ‘well-deserved,'” said Shreveport Council member Jim Taliaferro, himself a former member of the law enforcement agency. “The police department is in a better spot because of the position you’re now in.”…
