ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A woman that was charged in connection to the death of a three-year-old pled guilty to her crimes in court on Monday. Back in 2024, Albuquerque police say Kerri Santos brought her three-year-old into UNMH after she claimed the toddler fell in the bathroom.

Medical professionals determined the toddler was already dead when she arrived and noticed signs of abuse on the body. Police say Christina Pena-Cantor was travelling with Santos during that time, and was present during the time of the abuse.
One of Santos’ children who witnessed the abuse also says Pena-Cantor would tie up the three-year-old. Pena-Cantor entered a plea agreement with the state in court on Monday. She faces a maximum of 15 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been announced…
