Springfield’s Safety Town summer program now enrolling kindergarteners

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Kiwanis Club of Springfield is accepting applications for Safety Town, a summer program that teaches incoming kindergarteners key safety skills before they start school in the fall.

According to the Kiwanis Club of Springfield, students learn age-appropriate pedestrian and bicycle safety, school bus safety, poison prevention, basic fire prevention, car passenger safety and water safety. The pedestrian and bicycle safety curriculum is nationally certified and accredited.

Students will get to explore a fire truck, police car and school bus. They’ll also participate in safety-related arts and crafts projects and drive a pedal car through a simulated neighborhood to practice their new skills…
