Anchorage moves forward with major building code updates

The Municipality of Anchorage is moving forward with major updates to its building codes aimed at modernizing construction standards and expanding housing options.

Officials with the Development Services Department say they have spent the past year working with community members and construction experts to revise Title 23, bringing it into alignment with national standards. The Anchorage Assembly approved the measure, AO 2026-33 as amended, during its April 14 meeting.
