Independent Greensboro gas station owner feels pressure as gas prices continue rising

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Gas prices keep climbing in North Carolina, and drivers are feeling it every time they pull up to the pump.

According to AAA, the average gas price in North Carolina is now $4.16 per gallon for regular gas. A month ago, it was $3.92. A year ago, it was $2.84. It’s not just the drivers under pressure, but it’s also independent gas stations trying to stay afloat.

When FOX8 spoke with independently owned gas station owners about a month ago, many were concerned about gas prices exceeding the $4 mark. Now, the state-wide average is past that point. At the independently owned gas station off Summit Avenue in Greensboro, the price is $3.99 per gallon, and the owner says every cent to the customer matters, even if it comes at a cost to him.
