Thirty years after ValuJet Flight 592 crashed into the Florida Everglades, families and loved ones gathered Monday in South Florida to honor the 110 people killed in one of the deadliest aviation disasters in U.S. history.
Among those killed were 10 Hoosiers.
The May 11, 1996 crash happened just minutes after the DC-9 took off from Miami International Airport bound for Atlanta. Investigators later determined improperly stored oxygen canisters ignited a fire in the plane’s cargo hold, ultimately causing the aircraft to plunge into the Everglades…
