Honor Flight Day 2: Veterans visit Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Korean and Vietnam War memorials

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Valley News Live) — Hundreds of North Dakota and Minnesota veterans spent an emotional second day of their Honor Flight visiting some of the nation’s most powerful memorials in Washington, D.C.

The day began at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where veterans watched the Changing of the Guard ceremony. The group then made their way through the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial.

Searching for fallen friends

For many veterans, the visit to the Korean and Vietnam War memorials was deeply personal. Most veterans on this trip served in one of those two wars, and many searched the walls for the names of friends and family who gave their lives in service.
