MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating statewide recognition after one of its prosecutors and several deputies were honored for their work in DUI enforcement at the 5th Annual MADD South Carolina Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner.
Camille Weal‑Thomas, who became the agency’s DUI prosecutor in 2024, was named the 2025 Barry Barnette DUI Prosecutor of the Year. The award recognizes prosecutors who demonstrate exceptional commitment to impaired‑driving cases and play a key role in improving roadway safety across South Carolina.
Sheriff’s office personnel also received multiple nominations for enforcement awards. Corporal Preston was nominated for both Rick Moore Drug Recognition Expert of the Year and DUI Enforcement Hero of the Year. Deputy Talnagi was also nominated for DUI Enforcement Hero of the Year.
