Toledo Zoo to reopen Reptile House after more than a year of renovations

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Zoo’s Reptile House is set to reopen later this month after more than a year of renovations, the zoo said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

The Reptile House, known for its 1930s-era architecture and massive saltwater crocodile, closed to the public in late 2024. The zoo said it would be reopening to the public on Friday, May 22, during a special event featuring giveaways, live entertainment, animal demos and more.

Renovations on the building, which was first completed in 1934 by the Civil Works Administration, include infrastructure updates to the building, including a new roof, plumbing, electrical and air conditioning. Additionally, visitors can expect a larger exhibit for the crocodile and a holding area for training. Exhibits will also be expanded, with more space and better views for guests, the zoo said…
