BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The County of Kern is warning residents about reports of phishing emails targeting customers who submitted permit applications through the Accela Citizen Portal.
The county said the fraudulent emails may request payment or a wire transfer. Known subject lines include:
- “Invoice for Application Review and Approval Fee— Immediate Action Required“
- “Outstanding Processing Fee Required Prior to Final Approval“
- “Application Review & Approval Fee“
Residents who receive one of the emails are urged not to send any payment, click on links, download attachments, respond, or provide personal information.
