Mississippi honors fallen officers in annual memorial ceremony

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – The solemn sound of a 21-gun salute echoed through the halls of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) headquarters in Pearl as officers, families and community members gathered to honor law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

During the annual Fallen Officer Memorial Ceremony, the names of 38 officers killed in the line of duty were read aloud, each one followed by reflection and remembrance.

A single long-stem red rose was placed at the memorial wall beside each photograph, symbolizing respect, loss and enduring gratitude. Officials said the ceremony serves as both a tribute and a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day…
