NY weather: Penny-sized hail and damaging winds anticipated with thunderstorms in part of New York Wednesday

On Wednesday at 1:17 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 2:15 p.m. for Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties.

The storms are expected to bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail (0.75 inches).

“At 1:17 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of Ashford Hollow to near Jamestown West, moving east at 30 mph,” states the weather service. “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.”…
