After more than 45 years on the job, local officer still making a difference

Emmett Township Public Safety Officer Victor Pierce enrolled at Western Michigan University after graduating from Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo in 1976. Unsure of his career path, he dropped out after two years, but quickly found a job as a security officer at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. It was this job that set him on a course that would determine his future career in law enforcement and public safety.

Pierce spent many hours helping out in the area surrounding the ER in his work as a security officer. He would see police officers coming in to handle situations in the ER that required their attention.

“This intrigued me,” Pierce explained. “I had several conversations with these police officers, which piqued my interest.”…
